England are looking shite, cant get it together at all and I think we need a radical re think. After a long and mostly successful tour of Australia some of the players look shot and mentally exhausted Jimmy being the worst case IMO.
He's just had a new child his wife is probably on his case and he's done the hard yards leading the attack down under, cant seem to bowl with a white ball. Give the guy a break let him come home put his feet up and get himself prepared for what I hope will be a long and exciting summer against 2 top test nations in Sri Lanka and India.
We have a ready replacement in Tremlett who will be a lot fresher and hopefully more consistant. While we're at it I think Ravi should open the batting this Prior opening ting is bullshit he comes off one in 5 innings if we're lucky and he is more useful down the order when it doesn't matter so much. Ravi at the top adds more balance more batting and more options with the ball, although he bowled like a drain the other day. This also gives the opportunity to keep the out of form Colly at 6 Prior at 7, but importantly it gives you 7 supposedly specialist batsmen and 6 bowlers.
I think this gives a better balance to the team with the exit of both Broad and KP and may just give us a chance of staying in the competition a little bit longer, though I dont think we have a chance of winning.
Thoughts anyone?

Not being a Pom I haven't followed the team selections as strongly as you probably have. One thing about Anderson is that he looks very distracted. His bowling in the Ashes was excellent and I heard a story where he gave a bowling display in the nets where he gcould hit targets on cue.
In the World Cup he has been very much hit and miss and can't seem to bowl where he wants to. Either he just can't bowl in ODIs or is well out of form and should be left out.

CHRIS TREMLETT is set to replace out-of-sorts Jimmy Anderson in the do-or-die clash against the West Indies.- The Mirror, 16-03-11 Both the Mirror and The Sun (spit) have run with news that Anderson is to be replaced with Tremlett, so perhaps the ECB have already taken notice. Anderson went for 54 in 9 overs against Bangladesh, 72 in 10 overs against the Netherlands, 1-91 in 10 against India and quite rightly hasn't bowled since. Going for a strike rate of 119.6 in a World Cup warrants that he be dropped. It's just too expensive.

I definitely agree with having Bopara at the top of the order. Bopara is a much more versatile batsmen and still has the strength and range of Prior but is simply a better quality batsman. As for Jimmy surely is has to be horses for courses? If there's a chance of the conditions suiting swing I'd definitely take Anderson over Tremlett. Anderson can definitely work the white ball though, he's got 186 ODI wickets (2nd only to Darren Gough), its more down to Indian conditions not suiting his style I think. Its also worth noting his figures against SA which came to 2 wickets for 16 runs off 16 overs (2.66 per over). In that game had be used more then it might have been a lot more comfortable.

I think our batting has two main weaknesses. We aren't opening very well and we aren't finishing well! So I agree-open with Ravi and let Matt have a swing at the end. We just can't cash in in the the last ten overs or so.
And please let Jimmy have a rest!

cant argue Nige, I'd like to see Tredwell given a bowl if the pitch is going to turn, if not Collingwood on a seamer friendly pitch

Why is Tredwell there if he's not going to be used?

Got to agree that Jimmy was looking like a wrecked cart horse [understandably], needs a few weeks off so hopefully he will now get them.
As for opening, I didn't think putting Prior in was the most inspired choice, not to mention being the worse kept secret ever. Ravi? Yeah, probably ;-)
edit: to add that Vaughn has just tweeted that it's Tredwell doing a lot of bowling warm up in the middle....

Most of them look pretty shot tbh, I think they all need a proper rest.
And I agree with everyone else that Prior should not open. Any of Bopara, Bell or E-O-I-N Morgan would do for me.
