Email
Hi chaps,
Just thought I’d e-mail as I am listening for the first time and thoroughly enjoying it all. Based in Dubai and loving the anti Aussie banter.
My employers here have banned everything cricket related on the internet barring (incredibly) the cricket with balls site and you’re live feed.
Even cricinfo comes up as having ‘adult content’. Loving the commentary so keep it up
Bradders, Dubai
God dammit every time I email you a wicket falls, needless to say this is my last email for today.
Johannes, South Africa
Thought I would drop you a line from a beautifully sunny Amsterdam. The other TMS is not available here due to "broadcasting restrictions". Despite having Sky Sports, I like to listen to a bit of radio nonsense which sums you lot up perfectly.
Kate, Holland
"These guys have to be one of the funniest new arrivals into the crazy world of online cricket. It’s so much more than a blog but we don’t have a category that can describe what they’re doing. Test Match Sofa is the alternative cricket commentary with an irreverent approach that beats the pants off the BBC or your regular cricket commentary. Mute your TV and get these guys guiding you through the action."
Dave, worldcricketwatch.com. Australia
Keep up the good work!
Richard, Australia
Thanks guys, great commentary.
Duncan, England
I'm listening in from Beijing in China and can indeed can hear you - top stuff.
Ed, China
Enjoying the commentary cheers.
Alistair, England
Hi guys and gal. I am listening to you guys at work because I live in Canada and the poxy South African broadcasting people wouldn’t allow the BBC to broadcast Test Match Special overseas. Also, Aggers would never drop the F bomb. And so it’s refreshing.
Paul, Canada
It's a pleasure to hear you back on air - especially in such rosy conditions. I must say though, that your level of enthusiasm is bordering on mania - remember that England are 2 indiscretions away from a nightmare (one they've had before).
Greg, England
Anyway, just wanted to thank you all for the fantastic coverage you have given us here in Florida. My husband, being a British bloke! has loved it all... especially the Test (a bit of a sore point between us). After we found BBC five live wouldn't broadcast outside the UK and the ABC in Australia were hopeless, we became extremely agitated as there was no coverage here in the USA. So, he scoured the internet, and just before the test was to begin, he found you guys, Test Match Sofa. Bloody brilliant!! What a life saver you have been.
Jenny, U.S.A
It was Stephen Fry on Twitter that had me search out the Testmatchsofa
web-site , it is how he now listens to test cricket . I never
imagined that I would not ever listen to The BBCs Test Match Special
coverage but now I can't imagine there being an England game without
having "The Sofa" team commentating.
This is the cricket commentary that you and your mates indulge in
while watching the play on the TV, it includes all the hilarious
asides, impersonations and non-cricket trivia that makes it essential
for anyone that has spent hours on friends' sofas watching England toil.
For the most part watching England play cricket is not an enjoyable
experience but having The Sofa to listen to, sometimes makes you
forget just how bad they are.
Sean, England
Thanks for a great start to my first day of work lads.
Steve, England
The BBC, despite us paying for it whether we want it or not, denies (usually) its radio service when one is overseas. I'll be in Vegas for the Third Test, so will I be able to pick up you guys to supplement The Guardian's OBO? I guess I should really be drinking G&Ts with showgirls, but I'm too old for all that now.
Frances, Radio Cardiff
I'm grinning, loving live test match cricket denied by the ridiculous BBC to us listeners in Europe.
Michael, Spain
Peter has locked himself in his office here in Hong Kong in order to listen to you in peace.
Tim, Hong Kong
Way to go, guys - a great addition to the cricket scene - and factually very correct! Keep it up
Lynda, England
You guys are mad... I'm putting the word out about you lot, who I only found by accident so doing my best to get people listening. If I can get my Irish boyfriend on board, there is hope...
Kate, Holland
Popped onto your website and had lots of fun listening to your commentaries, admittedly I was drinking - but it was Gin, so I think I was on the correct frequency. Keep up the outstanding work in 2010.
Jed, New Zealand
Thanks to King Cricket’s bit that you’re talking about, I’m now sat at my desk (in Hong Kong) relaying the scores to my colleagues. Had to get the IT bloke to install the necessary bits which were obviously key to the working day... we don’t get TMS here in HK so you are, essentially, commentating to HK. Don’t badmouth China or they’ll soon put to pay to ‘the sofa’ in HK. Keep up the good work.
Tom, Hong Kong
