Shakey and Mack the Knife

Bangladesh batted admirably, bowled like crap and weren't a million miles away from getting a draw at Lords. They're 1st innings batting ruined my call on under 249.5 but their collapse after the start allowed me to add to the bet throughout their innings. Mahmudullah had a solid all round game picking up two wickets and scoring 36 runs to sneak over his line of 70.5. It was slightly torturous watching him come in at eight and see his team mates in a hurry to get back to the comfort of the dressing room but he got Cook LBW in the final session of the test to make the line. I celebrated rather vigorously on the top deck of the pavilion at Lords and drew some looks from the surrounding members. It was my first time in the pavilion at Lords with my new associate member status and it was a brilliant day.

For this next test we're supposedly due a spicier pitch than the 22 yards of concrete that were on display at Lords. Potentially that means an easier victory for England as their bowlers seem to need help from the pitch or overhead conditions at the moment.  I haven't seen a runs line yet but if it's close to 250 again for Bangladesh I like the under. For the player performance bets I'm going to stick with Mahmudullah whose line has gone up to 77.5 at CricketBetLive, he almost managed that last test despite not getting a chance to bowl against the England lower order at all. I also like the over on Shakib Al Hasan's line 105.5. He has averaged 158 points per game outside the sub-continent and 134 if you exclude two tests against a lacklustre West Indies outfit. Since his 9th test in October 2008 he has only scored under 100 points in a game twice (1, 2). On top of that at Lords he gave himself more overs than any other Bangaldeshi bowler.

Top pick for the test is over 105.5 for Al Hasan. Good luck.

* 20 points per wicket, 1/run, 10/catch, 25/stumping.

Yay, more gambling!

The Bangladeshi's line has come in at 299.5 or 249.5. I'd be willing to bet on the former but the latter seems a touch risky with Tamim in form and Shakib due some runs.

I've bet on Mushfiqur as under 64.5. He's not been putting in the best displays with the bat this year and the Bangladeshi quicks aren't looking threatening, so the chances of a caught behind are reduced.

Ally Cook's is 37.5, so I've bet over. That's more of a punt, but seems pretty low for a what is genuinely a class batsman against questionable bowling.

Jimmy Anderson is at 1.83 for top wicket taker, I've gone for it. England will almost certainly play only 4 bowlers, one of whom will be a debutant, and we can't rely on Finn every time. We've seen a lot of "Bad Jimmy" this year but he has always been a Jekyll-and-Hyde kind of bowler and I'm thinking we might see a bit of Jekyll on his home ground(or Hyde, depending on which you think would be better to watch opening the bowling).

Look forward to tuning in!

Okay so I got 1 out of 3. Bugger. In my defence, we did see a bit of "Good Jimmy", just a bit too late. See you for the ODIs.

And I managed to bag 2/3 but more importantly kept piling on the under for Bangladesh runs throughout their 1st innings. At one point it got as high as 375!

I'm off to South Africa for the World Cup soon so next tips from me will be for the ODIs at the beginning of July.
