MoYo's return won't be enough for Pakistan

by ben 5. August 2010 14:04

Well that was easy. England destroyed Pakistan at Trent Bridge and made me some money on the way. The big winner was under 299.5 for Pakistan's first innings runs and if you were smart enough to be listening live you would have been able to follow Dan & Nigel's in play tips.

For the second test England are obviously strong favourites and have been tightening pretty much all week. It's hard to believe in Pakistan or the draw, even with the slightly dodgy forecast. If England move back out to 1.75 then I might be tempted but not for now. Swann's points line* at CricketBetLive is 115.5 and I like the under given that the conditions look like they will favour pace and the Pakistan batting line up can't seem to last long enough for Swann to even get a bowl. Now I know Kamran Akmal is an apalling wicketkeeper and is horribly out of from with the bat but 80.5 seems like a like a beatable line, even for him - he managed 50 points at Trent Bridge even with two ducks, two dropped catches and a missed stumping.

CBL also have a special on MoYo's return with a line for his runs in the test of 49.5. The under seems like the obvious call for a man who has not played any professional cricket for almost six months. Finally I like Mohammed Asif to take more wickets than Anderson in the test. In the 11 times that Anderson has taken six or more wickets in a test he has never got more than three wickets in the next test, evidence, if anyone needed it, of his "mercurial" career.

We'll be on air tomorrow from 10.45am BST and I'll be joining the crew on Saturday. Pick of the test is Kamran over 80.5 points (sticking my neck out on that one!), good luck.

* 20 points per wicket, 1/run, 10/catch, 25/stumping.

I thought 83.5 points for Akmal was stupidly low in last test, and I was wrong wrong wrong. Not buying that one.

go with over 73.5 for Haider instead then - got to be better than Kamran!
