Pakistan will take on Australia in today's T20 cricket semi final with no one giving them a prayer of winning. But I say otherwise. Australia's fearsome reputation in this tournament has been built around their quick bowlers (Tait, Nannes and Mummy's boy Mitchell) putting the fear of God into static Southern Asian IPL specialists used to slow dead tracks rather than the deadly quick surface of Barbados. Today's game is on the more placid St. Lucia track where England's bowlers prospered by taking the pace off. In addition, the Pakistanis sport a Pathan skipper in Afridi whose mercurial genius with both bat and ball is due to make an impression shortly. Add to that the current World Champions' uncanny knack of performing best when no one expects it (nothing to do with better return on long odds outsiders), and a shock may be on the cards.
As for the Sofa, we will have Aussie regular Jarrod and film making Pakistani new boy Ahmer on commentary today from 4.15 BST battling it out between them for the right to take on England on Sunday. I'm sure you can guess who's side I'll be on.
